Two weeks is the perfect span of time to completely untether yourself from your daily routine. This fourteen day circuit is an exhaustive, breathtaking exploration of northern Luzon, covering the west coast, the high Cordillera, the Pacific seaboard, and the dense, mysterious jungles of the Sierra Madre.

You begin in the shadow of Mount Pinatubo, navigating the volcanic lahar plains of Zambales before turning toward the coast. After a day spent island hopping in the Hundred Islands of Pangasinan, you will cruise the northern surf towns of La Union, where the Pacific energy begins to take hold. From there, you head inland, entering the Cordillera via the secluded mountain trails of Nueva Vizcaya. This is where the landscape transforms into a vertical playground, taking you through the hand cut switchbacks of Kibungan and the mist shrouded passes of the Halsema Highway.

As you navigate the high valleys, you will see the ancient rice terraces of the Ifugao and follow the historic path of the Chico River into Kalinga. You will have the unique opportunity to spend time in the village of Buscalan, where the ancient art of hand tap tattooing is still practiced with thorns and local soot. Throughout this leg, you will dine on heirloom crops in the Pasil slow food community, connecting with the land through the flavors of forest honey, mountain mushrooms, and traditional rice.

As you head south, you encounter the remnants of the Pacific War at the Dalton Pass, a site of fierce historical significance, before navigating the scenic, dark green waters of the Ambuklao hydroelectric lake. From there, the road dips toward the Pacific side, leading you to Baler. This is the birthplace of Philippine surfing, a town defined by open ocean swells and a rugged, maritime culture.

The final leg is the most remote: the ride south through General Nakar along the emerging Pacific Coast Highway. This is a region of untamed beauty, where the road cuts through virgin forest and passes through indigenous communities that remain largely insulated from the modern world. You will ride old logging tracks and navigate narrow river valleys before ascending toward Tanay. Your arrival back in Manila via the legendary Marilaque highway serves as the final, exhilarating climax. By the time you hand back the bike, you will have seen three different mountain ranges, two volcanoes, and two vast, distinct oceans. You will leave the loop not just as a better rider, but as someone who has seen the true, hidden face of the Philippines.
